Mrs. Mao is the owner of the Maple Leaf Inn in Elmo Village. She has been friends with Professor Russell since she was a kid. While she isn't related, she almost feels like Tita is her granddaughter.

As it was her who Professor Russell built the pump for, she holds the key for the locked shed.
