Walkthrough

Upon reaching the Gull Seaside Way after leaving the Jenis Royal Academy, a resident rushes to you screaming about an attack on Theresa. To get there, you will need to complete the Gull Seaway Monster 2 quest, then head onwards to Manoria.

If you want Carnelia - Chapter 5, talk to Matilda on the small bridge at the entrance of Ruan, first.

Take this time to prepare your Quartz again; the fights ahead are very difficult without the correct abilities. Please see below for the recommended quartz use:

Once you visit the Inn and the orphans, Agate will join the party for a bit as you head to the showdown at the Lighthouse. If you haven't been there yet (and missed the two side-quests for it), go north of Manora, then take the fork to the south-west.

The Raven Gang is back again, but this time each encounter will be a small fight with a leader with two gang members at each level. While these versions are more powerful than what you already encountered, you don't have to fight them all at once, making the fights easier. Just stick with area attacks are physical attacks to knock them out. Save your CP for the later fight. You may want to return to town to heal on the harder difficulties before reaching the top.

Once you reach the top, the real battle begins, with new battle music. These Black-Clad Soldiers are strong, and their Shadow Weaving abilities can chop you into pieces if you aren't careful. Start with White Gehenna and Earth Wall, then use your physical attacks on them. Time your S-Breaks to use critical rounds to prevent them from unleashing critical damage and deal the most damage yourself. Don't worry if you use all your CP; you will have time to build it back up before the next boss encounter.

The dialogue choices at the end of the battle have no impact on your reward or the story. Once you choose one, you'll automatically return to Manoria. Use this time to heal up and fight some easy enemies to build your CP back up; you will need it soon. Once you are ready, head back to Ruan and report your findings to the Bracer Guild.

Once your party is back together, head to Ruan Mayor's Residence and up to the large dining room on the second floor to confront the mayor. I would recommend swapping out to maximize your speed and spells before you enter the room. This one is a major headache, especially on nightmare.

Of course, when asked who is to blame, tell the mayor to his face that you know it is him. After a long verbal confrontation, the physical one will begin.

Bronco and Fango are very strong as a pair but even deadlier apart. Fango is weak against physical attacks, and Bronco is weak against arts. Both are immune to all status ailments, and both deal power blows while inflicting poison or seal. If you defeat one before the other, the survivor will grow much powerful. Use White Gehenna to weaken both of them, and focus all your Arts against Bronco first. Use S-Breaks against Fango, and keep Kloe's Lichtkreis waiting to use it when your party is close to being eradicated. Joshua's Flicker is also useful in delaying their attacks.

A series of long cutscenes will complete the mission and Chapter 2. The story continues in the Black Orbment Moan quest.
