Recommendations:
The Rock Pecker acts very different from other enemies you've encountered. First, it will only attack males, and when you first encounter it, that means Joshua. It also attacks very frequently meaning healing will be needed at lower levels. It will also fall asleep at times; have all males flee as far as they can when it does since its attacks afterwards can be devastating! Fire works very well, so give them a good fire bath to avoid too much of a headache.
On Hard and Nightmare: Keep Joshua away from these creatures, especially if they've nodded off and reawoken. Have the women of the party damage these creatures with physical attacks or Fire Arts, while the big strong man of the party runs around like a chicken.
