To Queen Alicia

To Queen Alicia is the first part of the main quest during the final chapter. Will the bracers be given the audience with the queen, or will they be blocked by those trying to overthrow the ruler?

Description:

  1. Colonel Richard seems to be plotting to use the Black Orbment for some nefarious purpose in the Royal City.
    Our next mission is to make this scheme known to Her Majesty the Queen on Professor Russell's behalf.
  2. The winners of the Martial Arts Competition will be invited to a royal banquet. This may be our best opportunity to gain an audience with Her Majesty!
    If we can join forces with Zin, who's competing alone, victory may be possible...
  3. With our eyes set on an invitation to the royal banquet, we joined forces with Zin and Olivier to compete in the competition.
    We'll need to win in order to gain an audience with Her Majesty the Queen.
  4. Today is the 2nd day of the competition as we fight for an invitation to the royal banquet.
    If we're to get the professor's message to the queen, we cannot allow ourselves to suffer defeat here!
  5. The last day of the Martial Arts Competition is finally upon us! If we can be victorious today, we'll be able to stride right into the castle, heads held high!
    Our opponents, the Special Ops team led by 2nd Lt. Lorence, are no pushovers, but we must win at any cost!
  6. We won the Martial Arts Competition and entered the castle as planned, but it still seems we won't be able to make contact with the queen quite so easily.
    Fortunately, Hilda has an idea! Let's make sure we visit her after the banquet!

  4. We chose to cancel our tickets and hoof it to the Royal City.
  5. The capital is east from town, beyond the Sanktheim Gate.
  6. Security stopped us along the way, but we made it through.
  7. We arrived safely at the capital. Let's get to the guild ASAP!
  8. We explained everything, but the queen won't be so easy to meet...
  9. Let's just get to the castle and start gathering information.

  16. Zin wasn't at the bar. But we did run into Olivier there!
  17. The embassy gate guard saw Zin heading out of extra training.
  18. Let's see if we can find Zin along the Erbe Scenic Route.
  19. Zin worked with us to rescue a nun being attacked by monsters!
  20. Zin let us join his team to compete in the competition. And somehow, Olivier wound up on our team, too...
  21. First, we'll need to register at the arena reception counter.
  22. But before that, we really need to prepare ourselves!

  26. Received Grancel Sewer Key A from the Raven Gang. Seems like the perfect spot to train up!

  28. We've got another big fight tomorrow, so let's rest up!
  29. Nial came to our hotel. After we told him what all happened, he said he'd run some background checks for us.
  30. The competition begins in the afternoon. We need to get ready!
  31. Let's head to the sewers for some last minute training. The entrance is in the West Block.
  32. We're here. The waiting room is, once again, the blue team room.
  33. Met Dorothy in the lobby. Nial's got a lead for us, apparently!
  34. We beat Carna's team... somehow. Only one round to go tomorrow!
  35. Let's go meet with Nial at the Liberl News Service, in the West Block.
  36. We learned a lot from Nial. Let's report back to the guild!
  37. Received Grancel Sewer Key B from Elnan.
  38. Found a letter in the room. West Block, cathedral -- got it!
  39. 1st Lt. Schwarz was at the cathedral. She gave us a letter for Hilda, at Grancel Castle.
  40. Just like before, let's get ready, then head to the arena!
  41. The other sewer entrance is on the north side of the arena.
  42. We're here. The waiting room is, once again, the blue team room.
  43. We have some free time, so let's take a stroll around the arena!
  44. We should be heading back now...
  45. The final match has begun! ...And, we did it! We won!
  46. No time to waste. Let's get to that banquet at the castle!
  47. The Royal Keep, Treasury, and Royal Guard Room are off-limits.
  48. We have some time before the banquet. Let's find that maid!
  49. We should greet the other guests and hear what they have to say.
  50. Gave Julia's letter to Hilda. We were told to come back to the maid quarters after the banquet.
  51. We should be getting back...
  52. Colonel Richard also attended the banquet.
  53. The duke is taking the throne?! Now it's all coming together...
  54. The banquet has ended. Let's go meet up with Hilda!
  55. On the way, we ran into Colonel Richard, who asked to speak with us. No choice but to oblige...
  56. We're really late now. We'd best hurry to the maid quarters!
  57. We had to disguise ourselves as maids to get in. Joshua wasn't fond of this plan at first.... but he came around! Hee hee...
  58. We're ready! Onward, to the keep!
  59. We made it in! The queen's room is on the second floor.
  60. We gained an audience with Queen Alicia, at long last and warned her of Colonel Richard's scheme!
  61. We need to get back to the maid quarters, to avert suspicion.

Walkthrough

The beginning of the Final Chapter begins differently from the others. This time you are to arrive at the capital in style. Say your final good-byes, then head to the Landing Port and speak to Gerald at the stand to get your Boarding Passes. Board the Cecilia... ha! You really thought it was going to be easy? Go return the tickets and get ready to head to Grancel on foot.

At this point, the province will open up to you one last time, so if you want to explore one last time, now would you the best time. You can also pick up an easy-to-miss copy of Carnelia - Chapter 8. Private Orta at Air-Letten has it, but you have to walk all the way there to get it.

Once you're done, head to Sanktheim Gate to enter Grancel the old-fashioned way. Upon reaching the gate, speak with Private Wayne to sign the papers to pass. A bit of excitement will happen, then you'll be free to leave with your new follower in tow. I would recommend avoiding the enemies in this area for now and fight them later. Dealing with new enemies with a one-hit-wonder to worry about is not a fun time.

As you make your way down the Royal Avenue, stop by Gurune Gate again and go to the South Wall of the 2nd floor and speak to Private Selbourne if you want Carnelia - Chapter 9.

Once you're ready, head into Grancel and visit the Bracer Guild. If you want a BP, answer that "The letter would just get crumpled up?" After checking in, you are free to explore Grancel and the surrounding areas.

 

Explore the area, then head up to the castle to learn that things are worse than you've even been told. From there, head to the Grand Arena in the far east area of the city. Speak to Lifa at the receptionist to get your tickets to proceed. If you don't have 1000 Mira, you may have to fight some creatures and exchange sepith so you can afford to continue.

Give the tickets to the receptionist at the entrance. Once inside, head up either of the stairs to watch a match. Once the fights are done, go to the left wing of the arena and enter the fighter's entrance to discuss plans to deliver the message. You will need to team up with Zin again to proceed.

After visiting the guild, visit the Sunnybell Inn to catch up with a different former companion, then head to the Calvard Republic Embassy to learn where Zin is. Start your visit by going to the southwest monument to rescue a nun. The first fight is easy with just a few Hillside Bees, but more will come. Zin will join you with the second fight, but it will still not be easy. Use his Taunt to attract the Bees, then swarm them with Arts.

After winning the fight and learning who your new team is, head up to your room at the hotel. When you wake up, you will have a party of four. Get everyone equipped up and swap out those orbments. If you can't afford the best equipment and orbments, now is the time to grind those enemies (Shining Poms). I would also recommend increasing to Level 30 at a minimum before you proceed to the arena.

Below are my recommended orbments for the fights ahead. It is well balanced, but build your own as you find it best for your play style. Olivier is a powerhouse with this setup and provides access to cast Saint, which is a great bonus in the coming fights.

When you are ready to proceed, talk to Lily at the Arena reception booth to officially register, then enter. You may want to save in a new slot first in case you aren't ready enough. Inside, follow the hall to the right and enter the room on the left as the path heads upward.

You will begin to meet some of the other challengers. The ones in the blue room will not be your challengers for the first round, so talk amongst the other competitors until the fights begin.

Your first fight is a re-match against the Ravens. This fight isn't as challenging as the one in Bose. Attack with Stone Impact, Spiral Flare, Aero Storm and White Gehenna, and the fight will be over after a few rounds.

Once the day completes, you can explore the city again, with 20000 Mira to spend and a key to the western sewer. You can't explore the sewer yet, so explore the city and report into the Bracer Guild. Update the guild on everything, then return the Inn. Nial has been waiting for you, and he expects a story.

The next day will be similar to the last, but now you have the sewers to explore. Exploring the Grancel Sewers is optional, so head to Arena whenever you are ready. You may want to be Level 31 before continuing. If you are playing on Hard or Nightmare, you may want to max your CP as well.

New Optional Quests: Sewer Monster (West)

Inside the Arena, return to the blue room to begin the matches. This time you go up against the other group of bracers, so expect a serious fight. Mass-producing the Chomping Spare Rib found in the sewers can make a big difference in this fight. They won't hold back on their crafts, and neither should you. Just be sure to replenish them before the next event. If on Hard or Nightmare, weaken everyone for a few rounds, then decimate with S-Crafts.

The day at the arena will conclude with a bitter-sweet ending, so all that is left is to visit Nial at the Liberl News Service. You will notice a lot more soldiers, but it won't change much. Check out all three files to learn more about who your foes are. When bringing up the forced marriage, choose Colonel Richard for 2 BP. Return to the Bracer Guild to get the Grancel Sewer Key B, then off to rest.

Or that is what the soldier should think. After getting the letter from your room, sneak to Grancel Cathedral in the west block. You will need to take the scenic route and avoid the soldiers. You lose BP when you get caught, so save before moving out.

First, swing right twice and head to the east block. If you want Carnelia Chapter 10, head north and check out the airship docked there. To progress, stay on the north side of the east side, then squeeze through the lower area north of the market. Keep tight around the building, and enter the South Block. Wait for a group of soldiers to pass, then stay close to Weis Arms and Guards as you enter West Block. Enter the lower area, then follow the soldiers as they circle the Baral Coffee House. Go up the north stairs as soon as you can. You are safe to enter the Cathedral now.

The day will end after your conversation is over, and you have Julia's Letter in hand. Zin and Olivier will rejoin you the next day. You can now enter the sewers through the gate north of the Arena for further levelling. This trip is very recommended. Increase your party's level 32 to get Olivier's next craft, and get the weapons found below. Also, be sure you fully heal and max out your CP. You are going to need all the help you can.

New Optional Quests: Sewer Monster (East)

If you want the final chapter of the Carnelia books, speak to Anton at the south entrance of the market, then wait for her to pass three times. You will see a heart sign each time a pass is complete. After two passes, she will stop before walking by. Speak to her to reassure her it is safe. She will now have a speech bubble over her when she passes by now. Talk to him now, and he will reward your patience with the book.

Entering the Arena will automatically bring you to the blue room. Estelle and Joshua go off on their own before the fight. Go to the stands, talk to the bracers, Dorothy and the Professor, then make your way to the entrance. Mayor Klaus will be waiting for you there. Head back to the blue room to start the fight.

I would recommend using Zin's Taunt ability to get everyone close together to use the medium-area arts to damage as much as possible. Casting Saint on Zin will help him survive. If Lawrence splits himself, target the duplicates first as they have pretty low HP, but do a lot of damage. Don't be afraid to unleash all your crafts if you find it too difficult, but I wouldn't start with them as it leaves you open for a few rounds. Leave Olivier available to heal the party with Happy Trigger as needed. Repeatedly casting Earth Wall to protect your party and Chaos Brand on any of their party is also helpful.

After the fight, Olivier will leave the group and take whatever he had equipped at the time. Once you're ready, head up to Grancel Castle. Estelle and Joshua will wander off on their own again. Feel free to explore the areas you can, and visit familiar persons. Once you're ready, go to the right wing of the second floor, and head up to the Terrace.

Once the short meeting is over, and you've spoken to all the mayors, return to your room on the top-left corner of the castle. You will have free reign to explore again after the meal. When you first leave the west wing, an unexpected conversation will occur. When ready, head into the maid's area just to the right of the banquet hall on the first floor.

You'll be undercover for a while, with Hilda as the one you control. Feel free to wander to encounter a few unique conversations, then head back up to the Terrace and enter the building in the middle. Change into something more comfortable, then head up the stairs to speak to the queen.

The rest of your visit to the castle is scripted. On the way out, you will be provided with a few options when speaking with the military, though they will affect your reward.

Upon reporting the guild, the mission will resume in Hostage Liberation.
