"The Dada Killer" Walkthrough
Use the compass icon on the right to open the navigation menu.
For each investigation, hover over or tap the items below the scene to reveal their location.
Cabaret Invitation
"The Dada Killer" begins with Anna collecting a new assignment from the editor-in-chief, Sven. Take the invitation from Sven, then the car keys next to the typewriter. Back out of Anna's office and out to the Street. Anna's red Molinelli-manufactured automobile is just outside the office. Enter, then use the keys to start it - or attempt to - since Anna gives up after three attempts. Step out of the car, then collect the note attached to the wiper.
Someone has left the Poem "Green Queen" on her car. That isn't suspicious at all! Enter the office, only to get reprimanded by Sven. Forage through the junk in the Storage Room to find the crank needed to start the car.

Return to the car and examine it. Use the Hand Crank on the front and turn it three times, only for Anna to give up again. Thankfully, Oskar, a policeman, suspiciously appears to assist her. Once the officer leaves, get into the car to drive to Vanessa's home on Trittligasse. Unfortunately, another officer is there to prevent Anna from entering through the front door. Did something happen?
Upon examining the gate nearby, you discover that it is locked. Go back to the car and retrieve the lockpick set from the glovebox on the right side. Returning to the gate, use the lockpicks on the keyhole, which prompts a short minigame. Those who have played "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim" before will find this task similar. (I know other games use the mechanic, too, but millions of people have played Skyrim; thus, it is likely more well-known.)
You must move the smaller pick on the top into various positions and then use the larger one with the leather grip to try unlocking the gate. The good news is that these are master lockpicks and will not break. If you have your sound on, listen for an easy-to-hear "click" sound when the lock pick moves across the correct spot.
Click to show the correct position of lockpick
After Anna impressively picks the gate lock without the nearby police officer noticing, she can enter the Backyard. There is no way into the house from here, but a window on the second floor is open. Search the shed for something that can help Anna get up there.
Place the ladder against the wall near the window so Anna can climb up. She doesn't get too far as Ulli, the officer guarding the entrance, finally notices what our reporter has been doing. Thankfully, his superior, Judit, permits Anna to enter the residence. Return to the street and enter through the front door after a strong warning from the Constable.

A gruesome scene unfolds before Anna, planting our journalist into a familiar role. Help Judit by checking the fireplace and cabinet in the room.
Vanessa's Critiques may explain who would have wanted to eliminate her. Pass them to Judit, then examine the desk on the right side. First, take the paper out of the typewriter, open the drawer beneath it, and take those pages, too. The investigator points out that two people must have been here when the incident occurred. Give Judit the Expulsion Letter, then the Draft Article.
Anna needs to report what happened to Sven. Use the phone only to discover that it doesn't work. Leave the building, then check the utility box on the building near the gate. A screwdriver is needed to open it. Ask Ulli for one; he will provide Anna with a Swiss Army Knife. Use it to remove the four screws, then open the panel to discover that the wires have been purposely cut. Return inside to inform Judit, then check through Vanessa's things for some tape to repair the cables.
Wander back outside, reexamine the Utility Box, then use the Adhesive Tape on the wires. Go back inside and try using the phone once more. Although Sven requests Anna to return and complete the article, she prefers to assist with the investigation. Head outside again and return to the Backyard. Recheck the shed to see if anything else could clarify what happened.
Give the possible murder weapon to Judit, then also show her the Green Queen Poem found earlier. Could this all relate to some sadistic plot to ensure Anna witnesses this? Return to the car and get in for Anna to drive back to the office.
Sven will criticize Anna again as she enters the building. Go into her office and use the typewriter to start the article. You will need to tap various places on the typewriter to complete it. (Note: the Speed Typer achievement can be obtained here if you are super fast on the tapping/clicking, but it is much easier to get later.)
When it is complete, choose a photograph - it doesn't matter which one (although it will change the newspaper the next day)- then exit her office and bring it to Sven, who sits comfortably in his office at the back. Give him the article, which he is pretty cynical about, but that is just his style of praise. Anna will then smooth talk him to allow her to cover the Dada murder case.

Take the driving directions once he writes them out, leave the Press Office, and get into Anna's car. Anna must extrapolate out where it is since the instructions are dreadful. Draw on the map along with the directions, although it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you end with a right turn at the snake award icon. If you need to drive to this location manually, use the map in the car to go to Old Town. Safely cross the right side and take the Pathway to Cabaret without getting hit by the Trolly, then give the Invitation to the Security Guard standing at the entrance.

Enter the Cabaret, where Anna will bump into Judit Halle and her fiancé, Ruben Lefèvre. It just happens that he is an expert on Dada and what it represents. It sounds like Judit has a bit of conflicting interest in this case, but Anna hopes she is wrong about Ruben.
Note: Once you stand up from the table, you can get a hidden achievement by watching the entire play.
Examine Iris Knef, the woman in the red dress behind Ruben, so Anna can attempt a conversation, only to be brushed off. A flyer was left behind, but it got lost amongst the other patrons and activity. Anna will need to search for it.
Collectable available in this section: Hugo Ball
The Exhibition Flyer gives Anna the address so she can speak to Iris tomorrow. Sit at the table again to wish the couple a good night. Judit announces it may help if they talk with the Gallerist together.
Knef Gallery
The next day, Anna doesn't get a call from Judit in the morning. Use the phone to call Judit, who is too busy with other leads in the case, to join our journalist. Leave Anna's office for Sven to leap in, give Anna additional work, and then meet Hilda, the newest journalist.
You can return to Anna's office again and read the paper to start on the "No Day Without News" achievement. Be sure to read the newspaper every day to get this one.
Run to Anna's car before someone else slows her down - she will automatically drive to the local hospital in the Suburbs. Enter the hospital to find it overflowing with patients and no staff around. Peek around in Reception to see if Anna can learn anything.
Of course, a nurse finally shows up once we find the document, only to be told that the doctor is covering it up. Anna will take a few photos of the hospital for the article. Pan the camera around until the icon appears to take the picture. An arrow near the center will indicate the direction you need to go. After taking two shots, return to the car for Anna to drive back to the office.
Sit at Anna's desk and tap away at the typewriter to create the article. Attach the report to the report and a picture, then bring her work to Sven, who is sipping tea at his desk.
Now that the side project is complete, jump back into the car and drive to Old Town. Enter the Gallery, where Ruben is working on his latest creation. He is missing a wheel for it; perhaps Anna can uncover its location.
Pass the wheel to Ruben so he can finish his work, then pull the red handle on the machine and watch the failure. Perhaps Anna can fix it. Place the gears into the correct places, then reattach the belt before pulling the lever to get the device working again.
Click to show the correct placement of the gears
With the machine functioning, take a plate from the box on the right side and attach it to a nearby clip to watch it move across the room. Iris will join the action once the plate smashes to the ground. (If you break more than 5, you can get an achievement.) Anna tries to use the time to ask questions, but Iris is more concerned with art. Enter Iris' office behind her, then poke around while waiting.

Anna snags Judit's Business Card from the pile just as Iris arrives. Pass it to Iris, who explains the officer was investigating a robbery a few weeks ago. Also, grill her on the flyer Anna picked up that the Cabaret. After one last question, Iris kicks her out of her office.
Ruben still requires help, so give him the hammer resting on the boards near the machine. He also asks to find Judit's sandwich and drop it off at the police station for him. Search the area near the ladder again.
After finding the meal, chat with Ruben again before exiting the Gallery. Enter the car for Anna to drive to the Central District.
Collectables available in this section: Bicycle Wheel, Dada Dolls, Emmy Hennings, The Skittle Picture
Enter the Police Station, then open the gate at the bottom of the screen - Ulli will get up from his desk and greet Anna. After Anna gives him advice that he needs to push himself forward, the door to Judit's office will open on the second floor. The room is full of smoke, thanks to her prior guests. Examine the window, pull the string, then open the window. After their brief update, pass Judit the sandwich, then leave her office.
Enter the Forensic Lab in the basement to meet Dierk, whom Anna has known for a long time. She would like to check the fingerprints herself, so examine the brown box to check the fingerprints to find the matching set.
Click to show the correct fingerprints
What are Iris' fingermarks doing there, too? Judit will ask Ulli to follow Iris to confirm if she's connected, but first, they must rush to the hospital. Oskar has reported an incident there. Get into Anna's car and return to the suburbs.
Murder at the Hospital
The nurse will open the door to the Doctor's Office once you enter the hospital. Wilma, whom Judit interrogated earlier, and Dr. Reimund Kranz are now statistics in the string of murders, too. Examine the doctor closer, then try to grab the item from his hand.
Anna needs water, so examine the sink in the back, turn the right-hand tap, then place the gauze in the water. Take the wet gauze, return it to the corpse, and use it on the item the doctor is holding. Grab the paper to find that it is another poem. Pass it to the lieutenant, who is still skeptical that the poem from yesterday is related. Search the doctor's things for more clues.
Show Judit the Treatment Course that Anna found to learn a new possible lead in the case before closing their investigation for the night.
The new day begins with a call from Sven with a new assignment. Could a recent incident at the Cabaret Rousseau be related to the other events unfolding? Leave Anna's office and enter her car outside; she will drive to Old Town automatically. Take the Pathway to Cabaret again to find a giant mess on the street. Enter the Cabaret to see more indications of the brawl inside, too. Search the bar area for something that may clarify what happened.
Did Iris Knef forget her purse at the Cabaret, or maybe she is already there? That individual arrives at the right time, briefly explaining what happened. Give the purse to Iris, then snap the two photos required for her article. Anna will also notice Ulli following Iris.
Return to the office and sit at Anna's desk. After tapping away at the typewriter, attach an image to the article before walking it over to Sven.
Oscar is standing outside the office as Anna exits, who is waiting on Matt for an unrelated advertisement. Return to the car and drive to the Police Station, where Judit is busy with her officers. Go into her office, examine the bottle near the window, then scan her things for a glass.
Return to the window after finding the empty glass, place it on a binder next to the flask, remove the top and pour Anna a refreshing drink for Anna. The Lieutenant arrives shortly afterwards and discloses the most recent updates to the case.
Leave the office and visit Dierk in the basement for an update. Inspect the box on the cart on the left side, then return to the hospital in the suburbs. Judit will meet Anna in the Doctor's Office. Probe around for additional journals.
Place the journals Anna found in the box Judit is holding, then head to reception and peek around for appointments from yesterday.
Give the officer the book to assign someone to check the list of visitors.
Coverage of the Crime
The next day begins with another call from Sven demanding her in his office. He wants an article on the murder by the end of the day. Return to Anna's Car to return to the Police Station, then upstairs to Judit's Office. Anna will get a hard "no" to photos, including personal items, and then the newspaper with a third poem. Does this mystery poet have anything related to the murders?
Ulli has been investigating the patient list but has failed to find anything conclusively incriminating. Since Anna still needs crime scene photographs, and her new friend has denied it, she must find a way. Or she could give up journalism and join the police since she would be a better investigator anyway. Nope, it's time to sneak into forensics to look for a key.
Venture into the Forensic Lab to find Dierk busy at work. Anna volunteers to help with the fingerprints on the journals to make it easier to justify why she's down there.
Click to show the correct fingerprints
While Dierk steps out, Anna sees her chance to look for an apartment key.
Anna locates the key just before the technician returns. Walk back to her car and get in; she will automatically return to the apartment. Use the key and sneak inside. Before taking pictures, Anna wants to look around for more clues.
Anna found a university photo showing Vanessa with Iris and Ruben, possibly further implicating them again. Why didn't they mention this before? It's too bad Anna found this while breaking in; thus, she can't report her findings. Take the photos and return to the office.
Type the article, then attach a picture. The next day's events will be slightly different depending on which photo you attach. Give the paper to Sven, then also inquire about the advertisement. It's time to ask about the picture we found earlier, but not with Judit. Drive to the gallery and snoop around Iris' Office while she's away.
The letter from Venessa raises even more questions about their knowledge of each other. Anna has overstayed at the gallery and needs to sneak out without getting caught. Help her avoid the security guards.
Click to show a way past the guards
She bumps into Judit once she escapes. Ruben has yet to get home; is he still inside? Lucky for Anna, she didn't ask more questions.
Fire at the Gallery
The day begins with a very angry Judit barging into the office. The conversation will change depending on which photograph you attached. Give the key back to Judit, then storm into Sven's office (if you used the other picture) to learn how he got it. After the smoke clears, return to the Gallery to investigate the fire.
Take a few photographs of your own after finding the items. Ruben will stop by and tell Anna everyone is safe, then hint at how to smooth things with the Lieutenant. You can now return to the office and type out her article; attach the Family Photo and a photograph of the damage. Give it to Sven, then re-enter her office to search for the old model car.
Find the collectable from her adventures with the Molinelli's and drive to the Police Station. On the way, she will encounter a chase in progress, assist in capturing Manu, and find another dead body.
Enter the house of Marie Paget, a former model, now a new victim. It looks like the same type of sadistic exhibition we found Venessa in. Examine the body, then lift off the bag. Check the food, which may indicate choking, but what about pink paint? Inspect the nightstand to find it is locked. Anna will need to search for the key.
Use the Golden Key to open the nightstand, then click on each of the magazines and the oddly slashed photo of Natalie Meisner. Check the medical report Judit has somehow located, then doublecheck the area and remove the pickpocket's knife from the scene.
Anna does find Manu's Knife, which somehow slipped into a drawer during his entry and escape. Give Judit the knife, then leave the building. Return Anna's car outside of the police station to return to the newspaper office.
The day has nearly passed once Anna returns, yet Sven is still working hard. Her boss reveals that the mystery woman was a retired judge, whom Matt wrote about recently. Sit at Anna's desk, check her business card holder, and flip the dial until you find Matt Schwenke's card. Pick up the phone receiver to get the judge's address from him.
Return to Anna's car for her to drive to Utoquai Streen in the Residential District. Try the apartment to learn the judge knew a lot about the failed model, and her feelings are enough that she knocks over her books. Help her put them back up. You must move them around a lot and be careful of their sizes.
Click to show where they should be placed.
The judge will harshly kick you out of her home in gratitude for your hard work.
Blood Bank
The next day begins with orders to create an article about a Blood Bank at the hospital. Jump into Anna's car and drive to the hospital. Once again, there is no one around. Snoop around to learn more about the blood bank.
Everyone arrives after Anna finds the Blood Donor Certificate, and Ernestine educates Anna on the Blood Drive. After snapping some photos, return to Anna's desk at Eure Tages to write the article. Attach the Blood Donor Certificate and a picture, then bring it to Sven to proofread. After leaving the office, Anna learns that Hilda needs help with the new camera Sven provided her. Enter the storage room to find a flash for her.
Pass the camera flash to Hilda, then enter Anna's car to drive to the Police Station. Dierk was robbed right in front of the police station! Tap the loose papers to collect them for him, then search nearby for the last item.
Anna will find cryptic instructions in the mess; help Anna map it out. Once again, it doesn't matter how you draw the lines, as the directions are horrible, but if you get to the top right, it will be considered correct.
Since the location is in the area, Anna decides to go for a walk. Travel forward to Boulevard, then right down the Backstreet. The directions apparently belong to the thief, Manu. Give him the directions, then pick the padlock to prove Anna is worthy of his schooling.

After she proves herself, she takes the wallet from Manu before returning to the police station. After the sweet kitty moment, give Judit the model car, then head downstairs to check on Dierk. (Pet the cat for an achievement.) Anna will remember she has his wallet, so return it to him. Anna and Dierk will disclose their latest findings before visiting the angry judge.

Follow Judit inside to collect Natalie and Gustav's prints, then depart to wrap up the day.
Protests
The day begins with Anna stuck behind an angry mob, cutting off her route to work. You must move the car around the map to reach the circled area on the other side.
Click to show a possible route to avoid the protests
After finally navigating the crowds, enter the newspaper office. Sven wants her to engage the protests again for a new article. As Anna rushes outside, a man wearing a sign will give her another poem. After their conversation, Anna will drive to the Police Station. Walk into the Boulevard to meet up with the assembly again. Snap a couple of photographs, then investigate the area for more information.
As Anna learns about the protests that changed the world, Manu alerts our investigative reporter about a new death. Investigate the body, pay attention to the mask, and then open the coat to reveal their passport. Also, explore the area to check for the weapon.
The police arrive as Anna finds the bloody barber's knife. Give the lieutenant Emiliya's Passport, then the Barber's Knife. Return to the car to complete the article at Anna's desk. Attach the list of demands and a photo before dropping it on Sven's desk.
After speaking with the rookie journalist, return to the car to drive back to the Police Station. Gustav is the previously unknown fingerprint! Jump back into the car and follow the officers into the judge's home.

After witnessing the arrest, help Ulli look for clues in the Living Room area of the apartment.
Not only does his fingerprints show up at a murder, but now he has a case for a knife that may be related to the latest one! Anna wants to help the judge cope, but she can only offer some brandy, which she can find on the end table near the window. Investigate the table, remove the top and pour a Glass of Brandy. Present it to Natalie, then leave the upset woman.
You can now return to the car to revisit the Police Station. Enter Judit's office to join the interrogation. During the intermission, give her the Knife Case we found in their home, then continue questioning the suspect. After Ulli takes the suspicious man away, embark downstairs to check on Dierk in Forensics. Investigate the box on the table, open his wallet to find a new poem, and then return to Judit to end the day.
Fan Mail
Once Anna fixes the statue's placement after hitting it with her car, step inside the building and enter Anna's office. Someone has left a new cryptic present! They may have left something else since they had access to her office. Check the area further.
Anna must follow the Dada Killer's example and combine the newspaper clippings into something readable.
Click to show the correct of each piece of the newspaper.
The pieced-together article leaves more questions than answers - revisiting the gallery may help. Drive in Anna's car to the Knef Gallery, where she will bump into Iris again. After Anna angers the owner, she can search through Ruben's stuff for the manifesto.
The Dada Manifesto is undoubtedly related to the crimes. Run to the car and into the police station to see Judit. Hand her the Manifesto, the Dada Collage, Venessa's Letter, and the University Photo. Anna's inventory is suddenly emptied, including her mind, as she has forgotten about the article. Rush to the Residential Area to look around to complete her paper.
Snap a few photos now that she has the schedule, then drop in to see Natalie.
This latest discovery proves the previous suspect is innocent, but at what cost? Backtrack to the living room and use the phone on the coffee table to inform Judit, then examine the face and x-ray of the "artwork." Did she swallow gold? Move the round painting on the wall behind the judge to reveal a safe. Examine it, then move the keyhole flap on the left side of the lever. We need a key; check the nearby shelf for one.
You found a revolver, but the Empty Bottle of Valerian is more suspicious in this case. There is no Vault Key here, so try searching the Living Room instead.
Return to the bedroom with the key and examine the safe. Use the Safe Key to unlock it, then give the crank a whirl to find wads of German money inside. Examine the stacks of Reichsmarks, then the folders on the shelf below. Could the deceased judge be a fascist sympathizer or just one willing to pass favourable judgment for money? Judit arrives, so present the Bottle of Valerian and the case files to wrap up the day.
False Records
Anna forgot to write her article before she ended the previous night, so we better return to the desk to get those keys clacking! Talk to Hilda on the way to Sven's office and give him the construction article. Return to the Police Station and check Judit's Office, then the Forensics Lab.
More footwork is needed to solve the case. Examine the fake X-ray on the desk, peel back the label, pour solvent on the rag, then wipe it to show the X-ray. Pick up the permit from the Lieutenant, then drive to the hospital.
Speak with Nurse Ernestine and show her the permit to get the Doctor's Office Key. Examine the door and unlock it to enter. Examine the large case in the corner to obtain a medical record matching the ID on the X-ray. Next, search the area for the Potassium Gold Cyanide.
The recently expired doctor had the cyanide, which may be where the murderer got their supply. Return to the nurse and give her the Medical Record. Unfortunately, she isn't much help and hints it might have been a private affair. This discovery wraps up the surprisingly short day.
Sven surprises Anna outside the office as the next day begins, giving her a firm end date for her investigation and another short assignment. Read the paper in her office (if you are going for the achievement, then jump in the car to zoom over to the Police Station. Visit Judit in her office and give the officer the Cyanide. She hints that the shady pickpocket, Manu, may help identify the unknown patient.
Leave the Station, walk down the Boulevard, and dive into Backstreet to find Manu. He is looking for a drug trade, which Anna has no choice but to assist with. Drive back to the hospital, where the new ambulance is on display. Check the area to learn more!
It is a Molinelli, and even Silvia is here! What perfect timing since Anna needed to write a new article! She even poses for pictures thanks to Anna's past relationship with the Molinell's. How nice of her!
Now that Anna has her story, we can enter the hospital and forage through the Doctor's Office for medicine.
Leave the hospital and return to Manu, who should be waiting for the meds at Backstreet. Unfortunately, when Anna arrives, he is not there. Search for clues of his whereabouts.
Someone has left behind a box. Open it for a message explaining where to place the medicine. Place the Penicillin in the box, close it, then place the container on the barrel on the left side.
Return to Anna's car, plop down at her desk, and start typing to write the article. Anna needs more ribbon to write the paper; get up and dig through the storage room for one.
Return to Anna's Desk, replace the ribbon and complete the article. You should be able to get the Speed Typer Achievement here. Bring the finished piece to Sven to wrap up the day.
Deadlines
The day starts with Sven giving strict orders regarding the Dada Killer case. Plus, a puzzle box has also arrived for Anna. A new clue, perhaps?
Click to show how to open the puzzle box
A new poem! Leap into the car and speed over to Judit at the Police Station. (You can also return to Uloquai Street for an Achievement.) Pass the new verse to the Lieutenant to push the new lead and to obtain permission to write about the Dada connection to the killings. Anna needs the Manifesto for the article, which is somewhere in this mess of an office. Help Judit look around.
With the Dada Manifesto in hand, drive to the Knef Gallery for more photographs, then return to the office to write the new article. Bring the completed packet to Sven to critique, then return to Manu at the Backstreet in the Central District.
We have a new name, Nadia Shwetz. Barge into the police station and inform Judit, who will order the other officers to search every hotel and brothel to find the woman. After a long search, Anna finds the elusive scene. Enter the hotel and follow the officers inside.

Examine the guest book and flip through until you find a familiar name - Ruben's! Grab the Master Key and storm upstairs to confront the cheater! The bathroom door is locked, and water is seeping out from under the door. Search near the creep for something to get inside.
Use the ruler to open the door, then head inside to find a suspiciously dark room. Pull the light string to discover the red dress and a lot of steam. Turn off the sink water tap to reveal a bloody curtain hiding the bloodbath. Search the nearby area for the weapon.
Surprisingly, only the razor blade was stained with blood, meaning we found the weapon. Pass it to Judit and return to the bedroom. After the upset Lieutenant leaves, search the room again for more clues.
Kiki had a phone number? Give the card to Ulli to track the number to an address. The officer also suspects that this looks like a frameup, not a caught murderer. Leave the room, then check the painting near the door for another poem to wrap up the eventful day.
A Shot in the Heart
The day begins with a call from Ulli, not Judit! Rush to the Police Station and follow Ulli into the Prison and Cell 21 to unveil a horrid scene. Investigate the fallen officer first, examining the bullet holes, the weapon, and the dirt on the right side. Next, check Ruben, taking note of the open collar and the weapon.
Oskar seems quick to jump to conclusions and hates the Dada movement. Ulli and Anna need to find Luminol to check the markings on the wall. Leave the prisons and go to the lab to find some.
Ulli found the luminol while Anna got the Atomizer Bottle. Pour the luminol into the atomizer, then return to the crime scene. Spray the wall near the officer as Dierk directs her to discover another dada statement. Has the scene been staged?
Oscar suddenly seems to object to Anna's continued involvement. Go with Ulli to check Judit's Office. The trash bin contains burnt documents, including the case file, a picture and police officer files. How were things destroyed after the scene in the prison? Check the rest of the office for more clues.
The Witness Statement shows the list of items found at each crime scene. Find Dierk in Forensics, who seems to be unwell. Help search his stuff for the records Anna needs.
Place the Witness Statement and the List on the table, then compare the photos with the List.
Click to show each item for each death.
The showdown of the chapter may be coming, and you'll need just under 100 energy to finish, so I recommend ensuring you have the required energy before continuing.
Grab the weapon from Dierk, find Ulli at the entrance, and then rush to the art gallery. After a few moments, step into the Knef Gallery to find the killer ready to show off his stunning reveal. Once the lunatic stops speaking, grab a plate from the right side and attach it to an empty clip as it whizzes on the left side to change the scene.
Once in the driving seat, chase after the car, swiping left or right to avoid the traffic. It may take a few attempts, but eventually, Ulli will pepper the car with bullets, causing it to crash. A short scene will wrap up the chapter, but not the story, which continues in Ladies of the Night.
