Into the Dark

Dancing with the Beasts starts when Anna arrives at the Reger Hotel after receiving a letter from him. Enter to find no sign of anyone, including Otto. Take the candelabra from the table to provide some light, then go to Reception and examine the guest book. Professor Clark has returned? Stroll upstairs, turn left, then knock on the door to Room 4. There is no answer, and the door is unlocked, so sneak inside.

No one is here, too, and the professor's belongings are scattered everywhere. Search around for any clues.

We found a photo, but Anna could not make out the details in the dark. Let's get the electricity working. Walk out of the hotel, turn right, enter the backyard and into the cellar. Walk to the next room and examine the electrical box. A fuse is missing, so continue deeper into the cellar and search the shelves for one.

Now that we have collected the fuse, go back and examine the electrical box again. Insert the fuse, match the wires with the correct port, and flip the switch.

Congratulations! No more stumbling by candlelight! Leave the cold cellar, where Anna will hear distant muffled cries for help. Ignore the wolves and charge back into the Hotel.

Run up the stairs, turn right and enter Room 8. Help Otto up, remove the gag from his mouth, then check nearby for something to cut the ropes.

Use the knife to free Otto, then leave the room to escort him into the fireplace room.

You may have noticed Otto's voice is different in this chapter. Yes, it is a different voice actor, but let us chalk it up to throat issues caused by being tied up in a chair and left to freeze to death.

We need some wood for the fire. Pass through the hall and check the kitchen pantry for some.

Return to the fireplace room and toss the logs into the fireplace. Give Otto the photograph we found earlier, and he will tell his tale.

Cipher in the Snow

Professor Clark is being hunted again by the same group as before. Bounce over to reception to search for the first coded message.

Return to Otto in the fireplace room to learn he left another coded message in the Hall. Search the area there for it.

Return to Otto in the fireplace room again. After the brief conversation, leave the hotel and turn toward the cabin. Pass through the gates and enter the building with the broken door. Search around for anything helpful.

Anna also wants to check the attic for anything else that may help. Lift the ladder off the floor, then climb up. Pick up the third coded message from the table, then leave the cabin. Return to the hotel and find Otto, who is still warming up in the fireplace room.

We may have enough to decipher the messages, so place them on the table. To solve the messages, click on a symbol, then click on a letter pair shown on the left side. It tells you which symbols are for letters A and B; the boxes and cross patterns will help solve the others. Last hint: use the lines around each letter pair.

This is My Boomstick!

The messages are uncoded, but we don't know who wrote them or why. Since Anna and Otto have no idea if the unwelcome guests will return while they're sleeping, they need to be ready to defend themselves. They head to reception and search behind the counter for something.

Bring the rifle back to Otto in the fireplace room and hand him the boomstick. Unfortunately, it needs ammunition to make that boom sound. Bounce up the stairs, turn right, enter room 8, and search around for some.

Jog back to the fireplace room and give the bullets to Otto. He will protect Anna until morning.

The Professor's Last Footsteps

Tap Otto on the shoulder to wake him. Even though he stayed up most of the night, Otto is still ready to push onward. Leave the hotel to discover that it didn't snow as much as it looked like it did. Turn left and return to the Cabin. Search the wardrobe for more clues.

Hand the blood-covered cane to Otto, leave the cabin and return to the hotel. Professor Clark was staying in Room 4. Stroll upstairs, turn left, enter room 4, and look around.

Show Otto the brochure, then leave the hotel. Turn right and then into the backyard, where they will stumble upon a gruesome scene. Search the area for clues about who this person was.

Anna is well aware of that name, as explained in Part 2. Enter the cellar and venture into the far back to search for a broom.

Return to Otto in the backyard, use the broom on the corpse, and then exit to the mountains via the gate on the right side.

Unravelling the Madness

With the professor found and our heroes safe indoors again, enter the Hall and look for a blanket to help Clark warm up.

Return to the fireplace room and give the professor the blanket and the amulet from earlier.

After the professor's tale, take the key from Otto and venture upstairs. Turn right, examine the door to room 7, and use the key on the lock. Enter and inspect the wardrobe to find the weapon that Otto mentioned.

Return to the fireplace room again, give the weapon to Otto, and then go to the kitchen. Search the pantry for the oiler to fix the gun.

Stroll back to the fireplace room yet again. With the oiler, Anna can put the pistol back together again.

Click for the correct order to put it back together.

Armed, leave the hotel, turn right and enter the backyard. Search near the victim for clues.

Return inside and rejoin the men in the fireplace room, where you can safely solve the puzzle box. Spin each ring until the landmass is whole.

Give the instructions to Professor Clark; then Anna will outline her plan.

The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

Anna needs a mannequin for her trap. Leave the hotel and get in her car to drive to town. Enter the Antique Shop, where the policeman is practicing his piano skills.

Tap the officer on the shoulder so Anna can explain the nightmare unfolding at the Reger Hotel. Afterwards, look around for the missing parts of the mannequin.

The missing hands were last seen at the bar. Exit the shop and enter the bar on the right side. Search the corner for the missing parts.

Leave the bar and enter Anna's car to return to the hotel. Walk inside where Otto is waiting, then enter the hall. Place the Head and the arms onto the mannequin.

The professor left his coat in the fireplace room, so grab it from the back of the armchair for him. Return to the hall and drape it over the mannequin's body. The last item is a fedora. Stroll upstairs, turn left, and enter room 4. Search around for the hat.

Return to the hall again and put the hat on the fake professor. The trap is set, and they only need to wait for the predator to bite. Of course, it goes sideways, ultimately leading to a firefight.

Anna, or you, are an awful shot, so don't expect accuracy to help you. Once the villain has fled, give the insignia to the officer to wrap up the chapter. This story continues in Part 3 of Murder in the Alps.
