Kiera Cameron, a regular cop from the year 2077, gets dragged back to 2012 after a group of freedom fighters called Liber8 use time travel to escape their execution. Until she finds a way home, she decides to track down these escaped convicts before they cause irreparable damage to the future. She's not alone, though, as there are more pieces in play than just Liber8 -- some friendly, and some just as deadly.
Alec was always an intelligent boy, and like most smart kids, he kept to himself and did what he wanted to do, which included spending much of his free time skateboarding.
His father didn't have much time for him while he was making a small fortune selling his inventions, but when he passed away, Alec found himself fascinated with his fathers work. Thanks to his fathers notes and diagrams, Alec soon began following his dad's footsteps and strived not only to complete his father's dreams, but to surpass them.
Soon, his mother, Ann, found a new man in her life, Roland, who she met in therapy. Roland was nothing like Alec's father; he was kind, made time for his family, and hated technology and the corporations in control of it. His mother soon got married to this outsider, who did his best to pull Alec away from the world of science and technology. Unhappy with the state of his new family, Alec became more secretive in his work and began spending nights away from the house, locked away in his laboratory in the barn.
While his relationship with his stepfather was strained, it was even worse with his stepbrother Julian, who took Roland's ideals even further. This sibling rivalry went deep, so their encounters were often brief, and forced.
When Kiera Cameron suddenly popped into his life, his outlook quickly changed. The technology she brought with her was advancements of his own designs, and through them he became aware of the empire he was to create, and technology that will make him a corporate titan. He soon found out that the knowledge about his future was a double-edged sword; he knew so much more about the technology he was creating by seeing the finished product, but it also caused him to doubt the control he had on his own future.
As Kiera's only true ally in the present, he took over the responsibilities of maintaining the technology he created, and, through his computer skills, provided access to places and information she would normally never have if she was alone.
He was happy with this role until his world was turned upside down again by the death of his stepfather, and a message from his future self. He is now aware of the man he would become if he stays on his path, and the why he met Kiera. This additional knowledge has affected him in unpredictable ways.
Quotes
"You think that telling me what I'll become will create some type of paradox whereby my knowing it wont actually happen. But what you may not know is that there are two schools of quantum time-travel theory. On the one hand you have already changed the future by going back in time, the damage is done, you can't stop what's already been started... (the other is) ... that this journey is part of your own time-line from the future. That is to say that all of these events already happened before and you're simply going through the motions, again."- A Stitch in Time
"No way! Did you just tase Carlos? That is awesome!"- Fast Times
"Sorry, that was just me savouring the moment." - Wasting Time
