Lost Girl: Scream a Little Dream Review:
Bo's Greatest Nightmare
By Tyler Olson
The case of nightmares was really well-done. It isn't very common that this series throws enough twists to keep me guessing until the very end. Even though it wasn't heavy on the action, it kept the adrenaline pumping strong throughout the episode. The creature that haunted Bo's dreams was a very big part of this, mainly due to the way it appeared in the most unexpected places, often just when you are starting to relax. The only flaw was that they spoilt the big twist at the end by revealing the Mare a bit too early. It wasn't a big issue, but it would have kept the excitement going just a little bit longer.
While Bo was playing Die Hard in the vents, Lauren tried her best to piece together what was happening to the people affected by the creature, and mentioned that it wasn't normal for Bo to bet linked to another Fae like she was after the attack. Is Bo forming new powers, or does the Light Fae know that little about Succubi? Lauren and Bo had been working together a lot more recently, so even though I expected something to tear them apart for a while, it still made the Ash-hole taking back 'his property' really emotional. I was surprised that he offered Bo a position after she cleaned up the nightmare mess, but I can still tell that Bo is still going to fight him whenever she can, making his life expectancy shorter with every encounter.
Kenzi's new friend Mumphert, a Brownie, was an absolute blast. Since cereal with honey is the only payment he required for his cleaning duties, Kenzi typically jumped at the opportunity to get his help. It didn't take long before she found herself loving the cleanliness of their base, as well as the perks that came along with his friendship. The most amusing part was how he changed his attitude when they ran out of Honey Berry Crunch. Was that Kenzi's clothes that he was wearing? If it was, I am shocked that she didn't at least comment on how silly he looked in them. It was also good to see the floor for a change in their base, but probably by the next episode, we will be back to seeing old pizza boxes and trash littering the place.
Where was Dyson and Hale throughout this episode? Trick showed up a few times to give his limitless wisdom, but the rest of Bo and Kenzi's friends weren't even mentioned, except for very short parts inside Bo's dreams. It is really hard to build characters when they don't even have a part of the story.
After the series deviated from its Fae of the Week pattern for such a long time, I found it rather acceptable for it to return to this type of episode again. I just hope it isn't repeated as often as it was during the first season. With the big evil coming for Bo still in limbo since the season premiere, I hope that it is mentioned or something more tied to it happens during the next episode.
