Sherlock vs the Angel of Death

"The Angel of Death" sounds like a villain you would see in comic books; someone with immense power who smites the evil that plagues the land. The truth is sadly much more dull, and conflicting.
The idea of mercy kills has been a heated issue for centuries, with strong arguments on both sides, making this villain feel different depending on your beliefs. Since I believe that everyone has a choice of what to do with their lives, as long as it doesn't harm others, this killer wasn't something that made me cheer on Sherlock in his investigation.
Thankfully, there was more to this story than just a mercy killing ex-doctor. The one exception, in where the victim was getting better, made this story interesting. It wasn't just that deaths occurred for the dying, but someone actually did murder a recovering patient. Too bad it was an afterthought of the episode instead of the actual main story.
Watson's history as a doctor was brought back again, and showed that there is more to her than just someone who asks questions as the worst possible times. Sherlock's investigative techniques are rubbing off on her, and making her a better doctor in the process. I doubt that she will return to her old life while the series is running, but it is something they can use for the inevitable ending of Elementary.
So far, all we are seeing is murder after murder, and some aren't even real cases yet, just something that he noticed when others who should have didn't. I hope that this series branches out of this pattern as it has the potential to be so much more than just an average crime series. Perhaps have something ridiculous, like someone steals an entire dinosaur skeleton from the American Museum of Natural History. This series has already gotten to repetitive and needs something to change soon!
