The DC universe has some very popular teams of heroes and villains, but aren't many more famous than the Suicide Squad.

Of course, there aren't many groups full of crazy villains, period. Arrow's first Suicide Squad may not have been the most impressive, with only Deadshot, Bronze Tiger and Shrapnel filling the ranks, but it was still a fantastic introduction to the team.

Oh, and we heard our first line from Harleen Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn)... or whatever they are going to call her. Sadly, we didn't get to see her in action to know for sure, but the therapist line kinda sold the role. Maybe next time, right? Easter egg or not, this is one character that would fit perfectly with the rest of the Arrow cast, so I really hope she will return.

Imagine how awesome this group would have been if Harley joined in, too.

Although, besides the introduction, the three convicts didn't get much of a part to play in the mission, especially Shrapnel. I was hoping for something, I don't know, more explosive. Something like Deadshot sniping off goons, Bronze Tiger shreading anyone or anything in his path, and Shrapnel planting the explosives to make the whole thing go boom. Instead, we got more John and Lyla chemistry and a man with one eye sneaking around. This will definitely be filed in the "should have been better" category.

Even Oliver's problems in Starling felt weak. There were no fantastic fights... actually, no real fights at all, only him burning bridges as his hunt for Slade consumed him. I am pleased that he is returning to his friends at this point, but the whole drawn out solo trek wasn't very entertaining. I guess I should be thankful it didn't take place through most of the episode since Diggle's adventures got the bulk of the screen time.

While there were some great parts of "Suicide Squad", the episode on the whole was actually quite disappointing. It wasn't a bad episode, but it just wasn't as action-packed as it should have been, or even in comparison to most episodes of Arrow. Let's hope that Birds of Prey will fair better next week.
