E3 2012: Ubisoft Press Conference Impressions
2012-06-05 - 7:30 PM

After watching all the conferences now, none of them impressed me more than Ubisoft's conference. Huge amounts of announcements and tons of new game play, during what appeared to be an unscripted presentation, made this one the best of them all this year! Unlike may of the previous conferences, this one was all about the games!

The best sellers know that sex sells, and having a topless woman all over the place during Far Cry 3's trailer definitely got the point across. On top of being very mature, this FPS showed off a lot of great tricks to keep the game very immersive, and with amazing graphics. Even the first person swimming looked much better than other games that were shown off this year.

Several Wii U games were also announced, some quickly, and others with full trailers and gameplay. The new Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rayman Legends, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, Just Dance 4, Assassin's Creed III and ZombiU all had great presentations. They really showed that they are going to be the developer that shines on this new system. It was a good thing that Nintendo released a lot of information on the Wii U before this conference since it was shown off a lot here.

It was also announced that Killer Freaks has changed to become ZombiU. This game looks like the ultimate zombie game, something that the Resident Evil game has moved away from in the recent years. Of all the games that were shown for Wii U, this one had the most impressive graphics.

Assassin's Creed III looked amazing, too! The animations, graphics, and even the enemy AI all appear to be improved. It was also announced that the game takes place over 30 years and the Templars are still the enemy. Since it is coming out for all the consoles, it should be expected that each one will bring something special to the table.

A new online FPS called ShootMania Storm has also been announced. It will provide 1 vs 1 and team-based play for those who are into Electronic Sports.

The last thing that was shown will likely be the highlight of the entire E3. Watch Dogs not only looked incredible, it had an amazingly immersive story and game play that I haven't seen in a very long time. I wish it was announced which systems this was going to be for, and a release date would have been great too.

This conference was nothing but amazing games. After watching all the big conferences, this one was definitely the show of the entire event. I have a feeling Ubisoft will need to make room for a lot of awards!

Key Points:

  • Far Cry 3 coming out September 4, 2012. Looks amazing!
  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist had more gameplay shown than Microsoft's conference.
  • Wii U titles coming out are Sports Connection, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, Rabbids Land, Just Dance 4, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed III, and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013.
  • Killer Freaks is now Zombi U. Looks amazing!
  • Assassin's Creed III coming out for all the home consoles. Takes place over 30 years, the Templars are still the main enemy. Coming October 30, 2012.
  • ShootMania Storm is their new E Sport game.
  • Watch Dogs was the most graphically stunning game announced so far and has an amazing story behind it. Sadly, no release date or systems announced.
