Warehouse 13 - 'Emily Lake / Stand' Review 2011-10-04 By Tyler Olson |

Walter Sykes has put his master plan in motion, and it involves getting access to an old warehouse friend. Not all it lost though, Jane has a plan. I am very glad my PVR got this one, as I completely forgot about it after the oddly placed two-week break. It didn't just need one episode to tie up the loose ends for the season, it needed two, and we got them back to back. This is hugely thanks to the huge amount of filler episodes this season, but it did make these two hours the best of Warehouse 13. When your mom tells you not to do something, very few sons will listen, and gladly Pete didn't either. There were far too many secrets that Jane was keeping from Pete, Myka and Claudia not to start investigating, and lucky for her, they didn't do as they were told. H.G. Wells is back, but not in the way I expected, for the first half anyway. Apparently she had her memories captured and was living her life as a school teacher named Emily Lake. After going through a few very badly photoshopped pictures, they wound up coming across Sykes newest lapdogs. Jinks helping Sykes capture Wells really confused the rest of the team, until the twist. I suspected that Steve might of been a double agent last episode, but couldn't tell for sure, but it still doesn't help the Regents amiability. Especially with them finding out so many other secrets that Jane was hiding, one would expect her to be more honest with them, especially with what was really going on. If it wasn't for Claudia hacking the secret file or Pete and Myka going against orders, they would of never found poor Steve. That part was really hard to watch, and was acted very well by all. So, a fully restored H.G. leads Walter to the other side of the world to play a deadly game of chess. I have seen some amazing puzzle traps on shows, but that one really impressed me. I am a bit surprised that someone didn't try breaking the rules before though. Everything let up to an amazing stand-off in the Warehouse itself, which ended in some of the best death scenes a show like this could do. I was expecting an encased in carbonite type of idea with the first one, but the off-the-wall approach was still very appeasing. Claudia rescuing Leena by somehow finding the artifact keeping Syke's sidekick alive was well timed, but did leave me a bit puzzled. Where did she get that from, how did she know where it was or that it was keeping him alive? It was very minor, and what happened after didn't give too much time to think on it. The event at the end was amazing. It was an ending that would of been incredible for a series finale, if they would of left out the watch. I'll get back to that one. It was a great finale for the best character they had on the series. I always enjoyed the episodes with H.G. Wells, except for that stupid season finale last year, so it makes me sad that there is a possibility that she will not be returning to this series. Hopefully the spin-off will so go ahead to keep her fans happy. The loss of Mrs. Frederic will likely change things up next season, and might mean that Jane will be showing up to visit her son more. The importance of Artie's watch at the end will likely have some sort of importance in keeping the next season from being called Warehouse 14, but I have no idea how it will play out though. Everyone working together with one common goal, several plot twists, lots of action, and great closure to key characters, made this my favorite episode so far. The christmas episode will likely be out of place again, so we have to wait until next year to find out what happens to the Warehouse.
