Once Upon A Time: Whatever Happened to Frederick Review
Charming's adventures as Hero and Idiot.

By Tyler Olson

Never before has this series done one part of it's story so well, while the other half was almost painful to watch. This weeks fairy tale part was a fantastic story, but David's series of relationship blunders was so bad that I didn't really want to watch the rest of the episode.

To get the bad part out of the way, David's story in Storybrooke as been getting worse during the past few episodes, but this time it really hit an all time low. This was the big chance to get out of the train wreck he was in with Katheryn, but instead he went against what that would make sense, and thus ruined everything. It was like watching a horrific disaster in slow motion with body parts flying out in all directions. It serves him right for loosing both of them. I know it won't be permanent, but with how much of an ass he has been since he awoke, he deserves to be hated by everyone.

Regina has really stooped to a new low as well. Her evil plots and misdirections are great, but now she has degraded to a common hooligan and, well, a bitch. How did no one see her spray paint a car in the middle of town, or sneak into David's home with her skeleton keys? I'll let the home invasion slide, but someone would have seen the vandalism. She should have spent the end of the episode rotting in a cell like Mr. Gold did last week.

A bit more has been revealed about our mysterious writer. August W. Boot for some reason copied Henry's book, and left the original, or perhaps it was the copy, in a place where Emma would find it. Why would he need to copy the book? Is he just going to re-sell it, or does he have something else planned. Never mind, of course he has something else planned. Perhaps he altered it when he gave the book back. His drink with Emma seemed a bit odd too.

The continuation of the Prince's adventures, while was running from his adopted father, almost made up for his decisions in Storybrooke. Almost. Selflessly taking on a possible suicide mission to save Abigale's lover, who was turned to gold when saving her, really made him seem like a true hero. Even his actions with the siren was really well done. Even though this will win over some points with Abigail, it will likely anger King George even more. It's a pity he has fallen so far from his former glory.

This was definitely one of the episodes which I believe would have been better if half of it would have been left out. It is going to take a lot of work on David's part to show he is a person worth fighting for, both in Storybrooke and from the viewers.
