Doctor Who - Night Terrors Review 2011-09-04 By Tyler Olson |

While floating in the abyss of space, The Doctor suddenly gets a note from a very scared boy, and runs off to help out. People in the area go missing and it all points towards evil coming from the boy's closet. The story itself is very mediocre and for the most of the episode, very boring. At times it seemed to be one for the kids, but at others it seemed like something from a horror novel. At one scene we have The Doctor playing with toys to try to cheer up the boy, but the next involves Amy and Rory running through a dark house with creepy children's laughter in the distance. At it's core, it was all about what scares a child. Scary toys, family fights, a threatening landlord and not being accepted. The Doctor was mainly a therapist there to help the boy and show the father how to be there for him. Other than the creepy dolls running around and terrorizing people that were trapped inside the closet, this could easily of been an episode for any other type of show. Truthfully, it didn't really feel like a Doctor Who episode. The twist in the plot was sadly the most interesting part of the show. Everything that I knew of what was happening got swatted aside towards the end, but what was left reminded me of those classic children shows where everything always told a lesson at the end. This made a good show for the family to watch, but the scary parts might of drove too many children away to be useful. If you are afraid of dolls, this may be one of the scariest episodes of the season, otherwise it was just something to watch. It was still a neat episode, but just not didn't seem to impress me.
