The episodes this season seemed to of been all over the place, but this episode ties everything up into a cute little bow, then blows it all up to smithereens. It didn't just expand on plot lines from previous episodes this season, some of the characters come back from several seasons in the past. It was like the huge gathering of companions in the season 4 finale, only this time it was smaller, but still important, characters from his past.

There were a huge amount of returning characters this episode; some has about one second of screen time, but others played a much larger role in the story. I loved the way we got to experience characters that had large parts in past episodes return with new roles in a much larger event. It would of been nice to have a bit more interaction with some of them, but I guess it is difficult to fit everyone into a 50 minute episode. It is a pity that Jack Harkness couldn't show up for the episode due to filming constraints with torchwood, though I think that it would of caused even less screen time for the characters this episode already had.

The CGI in this episode was very well done. The ships, explosions, shields, and ray gun fire, all looked like something from a motion picture, not a BBC TV episode. I don't think there was anything that looked out of place throughout the entire episode. I am a bit worried of what future episodes will look like after spending so much of the budget on this one.

The story itself was incredible. By far, the best episode I have seen during the last two seasons. It was action pact and full of twists. Several story lines that were hanging in limbo for the past few seasons actually got closure; I forgot all about some of them. The 2 biggest closures were about Amy and her baby as well as River Song's identity. The ending was a bit of a cliff hanger, but the story ended at a point that it could almost go into any direction, so what will happen next is completely unknown.

This episode was great and by far the most enjoyable episode this season. Having to wait until the fall for the next episode sucks, but it should make the should make the seasonal break feel shorter this winter... I hope.

It would of been nice to have a bit more interaction with some of them, but I guess it is difficult to fit everyone into a 50 minute episode. The former pirates were the worst as they has just be briefest flash on the screen, then were seen or heard from for the rest of the episode, and Danny Boy from "Victory of the Daleks" was only on for a few explosions.

The beginning with Centurion Rory making demands of the cybermen to find out where Amy was had to be the most CGI intensive part of Doctor Who that I have seen for years. It is a shame that we didn't get to see the fleet being destroyed from some better angles, but it was a great fit for the episode. The Headless Monks' fire swords were a very nice touch.

The episode starts off with Amy holding her baby while being held captive by Madame Kovarian and Rory dressed in Centurion Armor getting information of where to find her. The Tardis then appears all over through different times and picks up several characters from his past that owe him a favour, although when it comes for River Song, she declines. When The Doctor finally shows up at Demon's Run, he quickly makes fools of all of them and takes the base very quickly with the help of all his friends. This is the first time that we see a Doctor that seems more like a military general.

We finally find out why Amy and her baby, named Melody Pond, was taken. Apparently the child became part Time Lord due to be being conceived on the Tardis. The baby being a ganger for the majority of the episode was very well done and threw a twist that most would not of expected. It also explains the child from "The Impossible Astronaut" and "Day of the Moon", although we still don't know what happens between the child in the alley to how she met The Doctor. That might be explained in future episodes. How do we know she met him again? The largest spoiler of all is incoming!

Melody Pond, Amy's child, is actually River Song. A lot of people guessed it, but I don't think anyone figure out how. Thanks to a mistranslation of her name, Pond became River and Melody became Song. There was no explanation of why the names were reversed. I am looking forward to seeing the changes that will happen with the bond between Amy, Rory and River. Now knowing that River can regenerate, we saw it at the end of "Day of the Moon", makes me wonder if she really died at the Library two seasons ago. I really hope we see The Doctor return there to find her alive.

The doctor rushes off to somewhere after he learns the truth, leaving everyone stuck on Demon's Run. Where he is going and how everyone gets back isn't known and I guess is what they are considering the cliffhanger for this mid-season finale. It could almost go into any direction from here, but we know the next episode will apparently involve Hitler.

This episode was great and by far the most enjoyable episode this season. Having to wait until the fall for the next episode sucks, but it should make the should make the seasonal break feel shorter this winter... I hope.
